Convoy stand at Ukraine Independence Day in Barcelona (ENG/CAT)

We continue our efforts to raise awareness about the International Solidarity Convoy to Ukraine. August 24 marked the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s restored independence. To commemorate this date, the Ukrainian community in Barcelona organized a charity concert aimed at gathering donations for partner organizations in Ukraine.

During the event at Plaça de Josep Puig i Cadafalch, a community fair was held, where representatives of the Convoy were invited to participate. We set up an information stand and distributed flyers to attendees. The initiative sparked great interest among the Ukrainian community: almost all our brochures were handed out, and many people asked detailed questions about how to support and get involved in organizing a future Сonvoy. This highlights the importance of connecting with local Ukrainian communities and setting up information stands at local events and fairs whenever possible.

Additionally, Vadym Odariuk, Head of the Convoy’s Communication team, delivered a speech with the event organizers’ agreement. Spoken in Ukrainian, the address focused on motivating Barcelona’s Ukrainian diaspora to join the initiative. Vadym outlined the Convoy’s core concept and upcoming plans, emphasizing the urgency of delivering aid now, as the upcoming winter in Ukraine will bring significant challenges.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all the volunteers who helped set up the stand and distribute flyers. We will continue spreading the word about the Convoy—because only together are we strong.

Stand del Comboi a Barcelona el Dia de la Independència d’Ucraïna

Tot seguint amb la tasca d’informar sobre el Comboi Internacional de Solidaritat amb Ucraïna, el passat 24 d’agost, en ocasió del 35è aniversari de la recuperació de la Independència d’Ucraïna, vam muntar una paradeta informativa a Barcelona. Paral·lelament, la comunitat ucraïnesa de Barcelona també va organitzar un concert benèfic per tal de recollir fons i destinar-los a diverses associacions civils i humanitàries ucraïneses. 

L’esdeveniment va tenir lloc a la plaça de Josep Puig i Cadafalch, on s’havia instal·lat la tradicional fira ucraïnesa que caracteritza aquesta data. Aquest any, però, també s’hi van convidar diversos representants del Comboi perquè hi muntessin una paradeta sobre el projecte i en poguessin repartir fulletons informatius. De la jornada en cal destacar que el nostre projecte va ser rebut amb gran interès per part de la comunitat ucraïnesa: els fulletons gairebé es van exhaurir, i a més a més la gent es va interessar pels detalls de la iniciativa i va preguntar com hi podien col·laborar. Això demostra la importància de mantenir el contacte amb les comunitats ucraïneses locals i d’aprofitar qualsevol oportunitat per instal·lar stands informatius a diferents actes i fires.

Amb aquest mateix esperit, el cap del Departament de Comunicació del Comboi, Vadym Odariuk, va fer un discurs en ucraïnès per tal de donar a conèixer el projecte a la comunitat ucraïnesa de Barcelona i esperonar-ne la participació. Odariuk va explicar breument els plans i la filosofia de la iniciativa, tot subratllant la importància de fer arribar l’ajuda ara, ja que s’acosta un hivern que no serà gens fàcil pel poble ucraïnès.

Volem agrair a tots els voluntaris el temps i l’esforç que van dedicar a la nostra paradeta informativa. Sens dubte en continuarem donant a conèixer el Comboi arreu, perquè esdevenir una gran força requereix sempre de la unió col·lectiva.
