Ripollet and Cerdanyola are exploring ways to participate in the International Solidarity Convoy for Ukraine following an open meeting held on 22 June 2026 at the Pont Vell Civic Centre in Ripollet. Organised by the Xarxa Europea de Solidaritat amb Ucraïna, the meeting presented the humanitarian mission and considered how municipalities, local organisations and residents could support its planned departure in November.
The meeting brought together Alfons Bech, the network’s trade union coordinator; Òscar López, Ripollet councillor for communication, education, youth and historical memory; and Toni Morral, former mayor of Cerdanyola. Participants discussed financial support, volunteer recruitment, public awareness activities and the involvement of trade unions, institutions and local civil society in the convoy.
Municipal cooperation was one of the central areas discussed. Participants referred to an initiative connected with Sumy, where a Russian drone attack damaged an educational facility, as a possible focus for cooperation involving Ripollet and Cerdanyola. Proposals included establishing links between schools, organising exhibitions and educational activities, and facilitating online exchanges between students and local communities.
Representatives of Ripollet and Cerdanyola will continue considering possible forms of participation, including local awareness events, institutional support, fundraising and volunteer mobilisation. Preparations for the November convoy will proceed alongside discussions with other Catalan and European municipalities, trade unions and civil society organisations interested in joining the route or supporting its humanitarian and cooperation activities.
